Transport and coarsening of gold nanoparticles in an orogenic deposit by dissolution–reprecipitation and Ostwald ripening

Abstract The role of nanoparticle gold in the formation deposits has long been debated. Evidence support this process is generally limited to epithermal-, Carlin- and seafloor massive-sulfide-type where nanoparticles are associated with primary fluid related processes. At Kenty orogenic deposit Ontario, Canada, remobilized from early pyrite through secondary coupled dissolution-reprecipitation processes form high-grade external pyrite. Here we report textures that help document coarsening process. A combination focused ion beam technology transmission electron microscopy provides a rare glimpse frozen time, which includes trapped iron oxides rutile non-oriented attachment bulk suggesting via Ostwald ripening. documented applicable formed Earth’s history, may explain ultra ore zones.
